  • Have to say I love the module - but one issue I can't seem to recitify...

    I have a front page slider on the home page where the filter module is - the slideshow is only shown on the homepage. When selecting filter options from the module, the results are shown on the homepage with the slider instead of the shop page without the slider.

    Any ideas?

  • No, is not the module, but the VirtueMart core engine which has a notoriously poor handling of the Itemid's. Generally, in couple of situations, the VM engine simply does not passes the correct ItemID, so wreaking this way havoc in the entire module/menu item assignment system.
    You might try to apply a simple workaround, based on the fact, that on couple of areas, when VM sees that has "lost" the control of the ItemID, scans the menu database, picks up the first link to VM, and uses the ItemId found there (more exactly, if in menu database there are more links to VM, picks up the lowest ItemID found. So, take a look to your menus, and see, if you have already a link to your shop. If not (remember, unpublished ones also count!) then add a new one somewhere. If you don't want to show it, create a fake menu, and add to that.
    And revise the rules you created for that slider module.
    If this does not works, I am afraid, that you will need some core hacks to compensate.
    I had the exact same situation on the demo site, the above trick worked.

  • I've sorted that issue now - thank you.

    How do I remove the 'search by category...' on the module?

  • Open mod_vm_product_filter.php, and will see, that beginning with line 42 looks like this:
    if (!$db->next_record()) { // There is no published Product Type
    		echo $VM_LANG->_('PHPSHOP_PARAMETER_SEARCH_BAD_PRODUCT_TYPE');
    } else {
    		echo $VM_LANG->_('PHPSHOP_PARAMETER_SEARCH_IN_CATEGORY').": ".$db->f("product_type_name");
    So comment out line 45:
    //		echo $VM_LANG->_('PHPSHOP_PARAMETER_SEARCH_IN_CATEGORY').": ".$db->f("product_type_name");
    It's not quite a rocket science ;)

    I hired Dénes to implement certain aspects of my Joomla based website - he delivered great work at a very reasonable price, and communicated well throughout the project. I'd certainly hire him again.
